"Yeah we had, when we were at the Lasser farm we had a horse and a mule and they--the horse was intelligent but the mule was crazy and hard-headed and he had [interviewer: lived up to it's reputation] yeah and you had to hang onto him the whole time and I remember one year we were we were raising tobacco the or croping the tobacco was my job was to pull the sleds from from the field to the barn where they were tying it up and you had to hang onto this mule because [if you] don't he'd run away and so what we would do is, the horse would pull the sled up and down the row and leave her to herself but the old mule he, you had to hang onto him so that was my job was to pull the sleds back and forth and when we were working in the field and--but and the mule was pretty, he was no dummy, he would take and you did, you had to fool him, you had to lock him in the barn the night before you were gonna work the next day or the next day your, you in the morning you couldn't catch him he just, you know, he knew they, if you were trying if you were trying to get your hands on him that he was gonna have to work but and so you better remember to put him up the night before."
